Prague Summer School on China

This summer I travelled to Prague (Czech Republic) to attend Summer School on China. The title and topic this year was, ‘A World Superpower – Myth or Reality?’. It reminded me of a dragon, discussion, if dragons exist or they are creatures imagined by the people.
According to the description, we were to discuss Chinese politics and economics today. To tell the truth, I did not know much about these important topics. At the University of Manchester I was mainly studying about culture, language and history. I believe that they will help me in understanding of Chinese political and economical systems.
I travelled from Budapest, my home-city, by train to Prague.

1st lecture

It was quite nice; we are only 8ppl in total, for the summer school on China, having almost a private tutoring. We were reviewing history of China, and it was not smth so special for me, as I learned about it before, but it was a great refreshment of what I have learned.
2nd lecture
On the second lecture were discussing if China is a superpower or not. We all agreed that it is not a superpower as yet. However, some people noted that soon, in like 20-50 years China would be a superpower. But who knows what will be with USA at the time, I bet it wont like a position of not a superpower.

3rd lecture
We had a guest lecture and a topic about Russian – Chinese relationship. Well I must say that from my humble opinion Chinese are over Russians, and as out lecturer noted, it is smart in using Russia all those deals/talks with the West. For example standing up for Iran, Syria and etc. It seems like Russia is using its old might and power that is swept away long ago, to boost itself in front of the world. But who knows, maybe Russian has secret weapons and power? You never know. However, it seems that it does not have anything to backup with its actions, only the ‘Russian’ previous glorious days. It’s interesting to talk about and I can go back and forth and talk about all those theories, but in fact we cannot see what China will do and how USA will react. But as being Russian I hope that China will be our alley against USA (I am not discriminating, but USA really likes putting nose where it is not needed).
Will Chinese-Russian relationship stay for long, what will follow next? The fact that Xi Jinping first ever visits abroad was to Russia? Does it mean anything? Do Chinese only use Russia? Will Russia finally wake up and try to be a superpower like it was before? Oh my, so many questions not being answered…
… (we had more lectures and parties and eating outs, ask me if interested)

my lovely ladies! smile!
on the boat trip, funfunfun
This summer school was amazing, the program was very good, and however I wish we would have more time for discussions and more lectures. Our professor is a really great guy! His name is Jakub Leps and you can actually google him. He was so passionate about the topics so time flew fast for everyone in the class. Unfortunately or not we did not have lecturers from overseas and those extra ones, held for everyone, were on Czech Republic and were dreadfully boring. Those lectures were not related and some were delivered in poor English. Personally did not have a good impression on them.
It was very hard to say good-byes and I wish to see everyone once more.

the only guys, the rest 43 (?) are girls

One week of amazing experience for all of us I suppose. Lots of great people, new contacts and new memories.
